J.O.D. Foods is a family run cheese manufacturing facility based in the former Effin co-operative Creamery at Effin, Kilmallock, co. Limerick, which nestles in the shadow of the Ballyhoura Hills in the heart of Ireland’s premier dairying area, The Golden Vale. J.O.D. Foods was founded in 1992 by Jim O’ Doherty a vastly experienced cheese maker and cheese grader, who was formerly on the staff of golden Vale Food Products Ltd, in nearby by Charleville.

Today, Jim, assisted by members of his family, wife Lulu and operations director, son James, Commercial manager Pat Kinnane and a staff of four manufactures a range of natural and processed speciality cheeses under the Old Irish Creamery Brand, which is fast becoming a house hold name for excellence of product both in Ireland and abroad. |
All cheese is 100% Irish hand crafted with 100% natural ingredients.
A strict quality control regime is in place at the creamery facility where product is manufactured to BRC Series 5 Grade A Standards. Only the finest cheeses are blended with the choicest of natural ingredients to produce speciality cheeses with deliciously distinctive flavour for the discerning palate. |
The Old Irish Creamery Brand Cheeses have won Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the World Cheese Awards in Dublin 2008 and Gran Canaria 2009 and at the world’s largest international cheese show which is held at Nantwich, Cheshire, England and also the Irish National Events. |
